We want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year!

This past weekend was the Streetcar Holiday Connection event in Centro Ybor.  Soundwave was there in a big way providing sound and entertainment support for the event!

Our good friend Sarah helped us out with running one of the entertainment stages and even provided a little DJing during the event!

It is wise to always remember who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.  We teach our children to thank and shake the hand of all military, police, and fire personnel to instill that honor and respect to those men and women.  We are grateful and can never repay your sacrifices.

Soundwave’s reach is not confined to just Tampa, or even Florida.  When some friends of ours in Washington D.C. needed to throw a Spook-tacular Halloween event, Soundwave was their first choice for event production!

Tony and crew loaded the needed gear and headed north to our nation’s capital  just a few blocks from the White House, to set up a haunted extravaganza.  Originally built in 1899, The Old Post Office Pavilion embodied the modern spirit that was sweeping the country. Today, it’s architecture and spirit of innovation continues to evolve, thrive, and inspire.  It was a great spot to have creepy crawly good time!

A day’s work and they transformed this:

It’s the spookiest time of year and we LOVE to help people through the most amazing Halloween parties.  As with the case with one of our best friends in New Port Richey.  Every year they invite friends, relatives, and clients to celebrate to the season in ghoulish style!

Just remember that this is a Halloween party and SOME of the props and and decorations may not be suitable for younger eyes.

It’s the spookiest time of year when all the ghosts and ghouls come out to play, and Soundwave is available to make your Halloween Party nightmares come true!

In 2005, following the bout with cancer, Jobs delivered Stanford University’s commencement speech.  As he spoke, he expressed one of the best pieces of wisdom spoken in humility and truth.

“Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life, because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure — these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.”

Steve Jobs was a pioneer in the technology industry and it’s this insight that has the potential to overwhelm even his greatest invention.  Much like any of his amazing devices, Steve’s final speech only holds value when you use it to it’s fullest extent.

We are proposing that TODAY be declared National Audio Visual Guy Day!  Male or female, the A/V guy is the unsung hero of live event production, concerts, conferences, political events, private and social events, television, and movies!

Think back to your last conference…

When you arrived at 8 or 9 AM, there were lights, music, and video playing throughout the General Session.  Somebody had to not only set that up,  but come in way earlier than you to make sure it was all correctly set up and running!  That task falls on the A/V Guy!

Then after the General Session, you walked to a Break Out Session with a projector, screen, and sound system for the Speaker to talk through.  Who set THAT up…yep, you guessed it, an A/V Guy!

And after those Break Outs and General Sessions, while you are enjoying your dinner and after conference cocktails… Who tears all the lights, video screens, projectors, sound systems, and stage down and makes it look like no one was ever there????  The A/V Guy, again!

These unsung heroes usually arrive 1-2 hours before these day-long events, work from 12-16 hours, and leave 2-3 hours after the event…usually without much food or down time and when something goes wrong…who usually gets the blame???  Yep, the A/V Guy.

So we are proposing that we elect a day for the entire nation to celebrate and HONOR these awesome folks!

This past week, 2 of our amazing Soundwave techs were able to use a Segway, but they had learn to ride it first.  Here is their story…

Soundwave’s political production company Campaign Event Production,  will be one of the featured companies at Florida’s Presidency 5 (P5) event this week in Orlando, FL.  This is our first visit to this historical and important event in the nation’s search for our next president in 2012, and we are all very excited to play even a small part in this process!
