National Audio Visual Guy Day

We are proposing that TODAY be declared National Audio Visual Guy Day!  Male or female, the A/V guy is the unsung hero of live event production, concerts, conferences, political events, private and social events, television, and movies!

Think back to your last conference…

When you arrived at 8 or 9 AM, there were lights, music, and video playing throughout the General Session.  Somebody had to not only set that up,  but come in way earlier than you to make sure it was all correctly set up and running!  That task falls on the A/V Guy!

Then after the General Session, you walked to a Break Out Session with a projector, screen, and sound system for the Speaker to talk through.  Who set THAT up…yep, you guessed it, an A/V Guy!

And after those Break Outs and General Sessions, while you are enjoying your dinner and after conference cocktails… Who tears all the lights, video screens, projectors, sound systems, and stage down and makes it look like no one was ever there????  The A/V Guy, again!

These unsung heroes usually arrive 1-2 hours before these day-long events, work from 12-16 hours, and leave 2-3 hours after the event…usually without much food or down time and when something goes wrong…who usually gets the blame???  Yep, the A/V Guy.

So we are proposing that we elect a day for the entire nation to celebrate and HONOR these awesome folks!
