Going Green With Soundwave
Soundwave is always looking for ways to bring the best possible technology and service to our clients at the most economical price available. But we consider it a “double win” when we also get to do our part to help the environment. One of the ways Soundwave Productions has gone Green is by using LED lighting to replace many of the traditional lights we use for weddings, corporate, or social events.

What ARE LED Lights?
LED lights use light emitting diodes rather than the incandescent bulbs. LEDs are much like incandescent bulbs except that they do not have a filament inside that can burn out. Instead, they are illuminated by the movement of electrons in a semi-conductor material.
How Are They Green?
Using up to ¼ the electricity as regular bulbs to use, one huge benefit of LED light sources is the absence of excessive heat and wasted electricity. Let’s use a real-world example from the Soundwave Warehouse:
We’ll compare a Source 4 par light against an LED brick.
Both the LED and Source 4 are commonly used in washing (putting an overlay of color) on a stage or wall, but with the LED using 65 watts or power, versus the Source 4 pulling 550 watts, you can see the drastic difference in energy use. Another side benefit is the heat from a Source 4 can be too intense for some of the locations that light elements need to be placed. An LED light hardly emits any heat at all, so it’s perfect for most any application.
The power savings alone make LED lights a great use of Green technology, but there is another feature that makes LED lights much more attractive. When you use traditional light sources (par cans, Source 4s, or Lekolites) when you want the light to be a certain color, you have to use color gels, thin sheets of colored polycarbonate or polyester. These gels have a limited lifespan and need to be replaced frequently. Because of the way LED create light, they can easily change colors with no use of gels. There is no need to take hundreds of colors of gels either. LEDs can create and unlimited number of colors. With no gels, there is no waste. And with life spans in the hundreds of thousands of hours, there is very limited need for LED replacement.

Soundwave cares about the environment and just added 35 brand new LED lights available for use, bringing our total of LEDs up to over 50! LEDs are easy to use, energy efficient, and can do some amazingly attractive light arrays. Who knew Going Green could be so beautiful?

Premier of the TriCaster!
Recently, Idlewild Baptist Church held a conference of overseas missions and needed some help with sound and projection. They called Soundwave and asked for our help and we were very excited to offer our newest piece of equipment to suit their needs, and it is called a TriCaster.
What is a TriCaster? It is a device that merges broadcast video, graphics and presentations allowing users to video, project, edit, and even live stream whatever video they want. In Idlewild’s case, they needed it to take the video from 2 stationary cameras and project it onto 2 large video screens. But the added benefit from the TriCaster is the ability to overlay lower-third graphics and jump between live video, DVD, and video from other sources. It’s truly a TV studio in a box.
The process of creating live, network-style productions can be very costly and require massive amounts of expensive equipment and a large crew of people. TriCaster™ changes all of that! In one lightweight, portable system (small enough to fit in a backpack), you have all of the tools required to broadcast, live stream, project, and record your show.
Soundwave is very excited about this new product we can offer to our great clients like Idlewild. If you are interested in learning more about Soundwave’s new TriCaster service, or any of Soundwave Productions’ sound, lighting, of video services, please contact us today!
Famous Faces Friday – Jeb Bush
It’s not often that you get to meet a former governor, so when Tony and Jen Casler, Soundwave Productions’ co-owner were invited to meet Jeb Bush, and they were honored to attend! Jeb Bush and former First Ladies Barbara and Laura Bush were attending an event in Naples, Florida promoting reading and Soundwave was invited to attend.
It was a great night, we had a lot of fun and got to meet some of our nation’s leading politicians and dignitaries. It was an honor to be invited.
- Tony Casler
Former Florida Governor, Jeb Bush was also gracious enough to stop and have his picture taken with two of his former constituents. It was a great evening for an even better cause.
The Governor at Pepin Academy
Fresh from signing his first major piece of legislation since taking office,Governor Rick Scott spoke at the Pepin Academy in Tampa today, Soundwave provided sound and light support.
We’ve had a great relationship with the Governor and, politics aside, it’s a lot of fun working with such a high ranking political figure. It also makes form some interesting situations.
Soundwave is very proud if the work that we have done with Candidate Scott and most recently, Governor Scott. We look forward to serving his administration in any way we can.
And the same great support we supply for the Governor, we want to deliver for you too. Contact us today and let us show you ways that we can provide top-shelf audio, video, sound, and lighting support for your wedding, party, event, conference, or maybe even YOUR election!
Drape and Up Lighting Tranform a Room
Sometimes you have the almost perfect venue for your event, but there are some things you would like to tweak. That’s where some well placed drape and up lighting can help you transform a room to exactly what you envision and make your venue absolutely perfect. Let’s show you how Soundwave can help…
Here we have a great venue in Safety Harbor, Fl. It’s the right size for a reception or luncheon, but it LOOKS a little too generic. This is what it looks like without any draping or up lighting.
Let’s begin with this image from the room. There is nothing wrong with this the tables are dressed and beautiful and the cake has a prominent position and looks great, but notice how it get “lost” in the room with the alcove behind it. We CAN move the cake under the alcove and position it differently, but we will lose it under the over-hang. How can we bring the focus of the room to the wedding cake? The answer is some simple pipe and drape. And this is what it will look like:
Not only did we bring the focus on the room to the cake, we also added some LED up lighting to change the color of the entire wall. We can also use LED lights to bring in some dramatic color all along the walls and in the corners as well.
These are just some simple fixes to tweak whatever room you have and want to transform into the perfect venue. We can also use custom gobos (Go Before Optics) that we can splash a logo or monogram for your event to add another level of personalization to your party.
Or we can add you custom monogram to any surface in the room. Here’s we used it on the dance floor.
All these suggestions are simple, cost effective, and available for you through your Soundwave Productions experts. Call us today and find out how we can transform any venue just for you!
Sarasota Wedding
Soundwave Events had the extreme pleasure to be called in for a wedding this weekend in Sarasota, Florida. We are asked to provide our DJ services and also some lighting and white drape. It was a great reception, but much of what Soundwave did was not atthe wedding reception.
Soundwave often times provides DJ services, lighting and drape, but we often are called on for ceremony music and cocktail music as well. We brought a crew in to Sarasota from Tampa to set up for ceremony music while another crew set up for the cocktail hour at a different location. Then the initial crew leapfrogged over the 2nd crew, and set up for the wedding reception at yet a 3rd, different location.
Overall, it was a tremendous event and the clients were very happy. We loved the venue and are looking forward to working with the other vendors again!
